Welcome to the SMU Writing Center, where we offer a variety of resources to help you improve your research, critical reading, writing, and presenting skills.

Whether you're struggling with understanding the prompt, organizing your ideas, or simply need feedback on your draft writing, our faculty are here to assist you at any stage of the writing process. Additionally, we offer assistance on presentations. Our goal is to help you become a confident and effective writer and communicator, no matter your major or career aspirations.

The Writing Center is a resource for all SMU undergraduates who need help with an academic writing or presentation project of any kind from arts to STEM, but we also offer help on personal statements, application essays, and other preprofessional communications. Please note, however, that we do not offer proofreading services. 

LEC OPEN May 10 – May 31 Monday thru Friday from 9am – 4pm. (Tutoring and Writing Center by appointment. Email Lydia Allen or Shon Phillips.) We will assume tutor hours and regular operation hours on Monday, June 3.

Summer hours beginning June 3:  Sun 5pm-8pm; MTWTh 8:30am – 8pm; F 8:30am – 5pm; Sat CLOSED

Tutoring Sun – Thurs 5pm-8pm.
